Choppy Conditions

Choppy conditions for the troubled passenger only ferry service that operates between Gourock and Dunoon.

The long running campaign in Dunoon for the return of a service similar to that previously operated by CalMac. But in 2011 ministers tendered the route as a passenger-only operation, now operated by CalMac's sister company Argyll Ferries. This left the unsubsidised private sector Western Ferries providing the only car ferry services.

Only one company has said it would be interested in running a car ferry between Gourock and Dunoon piers, and even then it is on the condition that the Government takes the commercial risk.
