Lithgow Lights
Lithgow Lights is a well organised charity program raising money for research into child cancer. Each year at Christmas they decorate a small cottage in suburban Lithgow with up to 30,000 lights which are collectively choreographed by computer to music tracks, broadcast over a local community FM station. Cars can tune to the soundtrack as they drive up to watch the proceediings. Various banks of lights on trees, in windows, along fences and stretched from masts in the front garden change colour in bewildering combinations of hues and intensities and "chase" each other around and across the display. It really is worth seeing. I shot maybe 50 frames and have combined three sooc images in which similar combinations of lights are in use. Some "faces" created by strings of lights on the roof appear to mime the words one can hear over the radio.
