Phone Coffee

Still experimenting with the Galaxy phone. I think I am getting a little better but I am not yet thrilled. I have to start concentrating MORE on my own performance and LESS on the phone camera. After all it is what it IS. It isn't going to change. It is ME who has to change. To be sure, I am going to explore better apps etc but the real issue remains the handling.

I was in a fairly dark café. I have been advised to rest the camera on something where possible and I am toying with the idea of my collapsible walking pole .... buuuut there was nothing available right here. It was just me (elbows on the table) and the phone ... and the coffee. I was testing several things:

a) how well can I hold it at maybe 1/20th to 1/30 sec
b) how much noise will the camera introduce while searching for a high ISO
c) how well will the camera manage colour balance
d) how well can it focus in low light
e) how close can it focus.

I tried still more patented holding/focusing/shutter release strategies and after a shoot of five exposures I came up with this. I downloaded it into Photoshop in my computer. Sharpening wasn't really necessary although there IS some motion blur. Some noise reduction was managed through Topaz de Noise (especially on the cup and saucer shadow area and I needed only a tiny amount of white balance adjustment. I might even get to LIKE this thing.
