Ablutions
The day of the hammam.
A life-changing experience. I've never seen so many women together completely at ease, relaxed and naked. For a LONG time. None of this British 'Oh I'm totally FINE (studiously ignoring glimpses of bare flesh) in a public changing room in a mad dash to get dressed in less than 3 minutes without baring anything myself'. Layla and I were stripped naked, lathered, positioned this way, that way, everyway, scrubbed, sluiced, and then scrubbed some more amidst a sea of limbs.
I have never felt so clean in my life. And at one with the sisterhood. We may not have shared a language, but we shared smiles, grimaces at the amount of filth coming off our bodies and howls of laughter at my ticklish shrieks which echoed around the 14C chambers.
A good job we were so sparkly really - considering we bumped into Jeremy Irons an hour or so later while we were quietly minding our own business sipping cocktails at La Mamounia. As you do...
