We were up for the sunrise - and awake from 4.30am listening to the haunting calls to prayer echoing around us. After a leisurely breakfast on the roof terrace we set off and walked and walked and walked - until 7pm.

Then the bartering, making friends, making promises, drinking tea, basking in palaces, cats milling about everywhere, learning about the magic of musk and 40-spice mix, donkeys, mopeds and bicycles with impossible loads, weaving through the tiniest alleyways packed with people & stalls - surrounded by the most amazing light and smells and noise I can't begin to describe.

And then home to the Riad l'Orangeraie for Nadia's amazing home cooking and a very welcome glass or two of chilled wine on the roof terrace again.
