Our Journey is a process

This is a single sided itaglio print of an "experimental" bill that the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing made for the $10,000 Gold Certificate in 1882. No, this is not a real, marketable bill. Note that it does not have a serial number.

My main "hobby" is photography, among other things. J's is collecting historic currency. He is a self-taught numismatist (i.e. a person who collects money) and is fascinated with the engraver's art as well as the history behind the bills. He also enjoys collecting the prints of some of the higher dollar value bills and the experimental bills.

This particular experimental bill is a large bill (i.e. much larger than the typical dollar). Also, because it is an experimental bill, it was printed on another kind of paper - not the typical paper used to print circulated bills on. I believe that this particular bill was never finalized and hence was never printed.

GO LARGE to see the beauty of the engraver's artwork.

Thank you all for your kind comments, stars and hearts on yesterday's December's Lights. I do appreciate the time that you take to comment on my photos.
