December lights

The Christmas season is my favorite time of year. I love the lights, sounds and smell of the season. One of my favorite things is walking through the fields or forests in December. Even walking through the December fields, the earthy fragrances of wood, moss, pine and spice delicately fill the air. The colors of the sky, mountains and earth in late afternoon sunshine are so soft and the shadows so long.

We are planning to return to Reno for the holidays, but we are still trying to figure out when we can leave. We just had a roof inspection done on the house that we are trying to sell here, and found that we have some major hail damage. It looks like we will have to replace the entire roof. We are very thankful that the insurance will cover at least some of the cost. Now we just need to coordinate when. Very likely, we will put the sale of the house on hold until early next year and have the new roof put on in January. And of course we need to be here for all of that.

Ah, the life of the nomad - back and forth, back and forth.
