Shiny Armour

This green soldier fly has a shiny green metallic thorax that radiates rich shades of yellow and red, even when it is dull  as today was. It is just over 10 mm long, and is a New Zealand native, Beris sp.

The relentless low cloud over the last three days has dampened my hopes of seeing the full moon this month.
