The Beauty of Patient, Tenacious Hope

Today we were able to visit the beautiful community center run by the Sarvam Trust and two wonderful people who have dedicated the last 10 years of their own lives to improving the lives of families in rural Indian villages. They have contributed so much to the handful of villages in which they work, including job training for all people (women, men, and widows), community development (houses and toilets), and child education. However, unlike most organizations who conduct this type of work, they only serve as a resource for when the community itself wants to do all of these things. Thus, the true potential of the community is slowly allowed to expand from within, transforming the villages into places of pride and hope.

This is the sadly short explanation for something so wonderful. You should check out the website and any videos they have (especially of the month long summer camp for the children).

This statue was donated by a local mason. He wanted to give something to Sarvam and asked them for a single bag of cement. Two days later he came back with this art piece which greets all visitors as they enter the compound.
