Monks in hoodies
Its a beautiful day today and we head out onto Phewa Tal (or Fewa Lake in English) which is the big lake around which Lakeside, Pokhura is situated. We take a ferry boat to the Bahari Temple which sits on an island in the middle of the lake. We actually thought we were going to another temple looking building you can see up the hill on the opposite side of the lake but it appears this is the Peace Pagoda not Bahari Temple ... we'll do that one another day.
The small island which houses the Bahari Temple is packed with Nepalis coming to worship and we spotted these two monks deep in conversation gazing out over the lake so took a sneaky pic. We take the ferry back and then get a rowing boat and row out onto the lake for an hour. Its quite hard work as you only have one oar but we manage ok in the end and its nice to be on the lake in the sunshine.
This afternoon we find another yoga place and after making some enquiries book an Ashtanga yoga class for 8am tomorrow - its just going to be the two of us. The teacher looks like a proper Indian yogi with long grey hair and beard and he also teaches meditation and does reiki. We wonder if its going be anything like any Ashtanga class we've attended at home before.
We decide we're going to get out of Pokhara at least for one night at the weekend (unless the visa comes through tomorrow of course) and make some enquiries. Lumbini was our first choice but it takes 9 hours on a bus apparently which is a bit much just for one night so we decide we'll walk up to Sarangkot tomorrow instead. Sarangkot is a small hilltop village where all the paragliders take off from which you can just see from the lake. Its about a 2-3 hour walk up there apparently with great 360 degree views of the sunset and sunrise.
