Dominica
"Ruins, for me, are the beginning. With the debris, you can construct new ideas. They are symbols of a beginning."
Anselm Kiefer
This is The Ruins Rock Café in Roseau, capital of Dominica in the Caribbean. I didn't go in, too busy looking for photos around the town. Just before the ship was dues to sail a rather large Conga line emerged and snaked its way to the ship - they'd obviously been sampling the rum punch.
Had a cycling tour along the coast, weaving through the bustling market, up through the Botanical Gardens and out through the villages along the coast. Hot and humid so we were relieved to reach Champagne Reef, where bubbles fizz upwards through the surf from the volcanic rocks below. Had such an enjoyable snorkelling expedition out onto the reef, with the brightly coloured Sergeant major fish swimming below us, Elkhorn Coral and canons from sunken galleons encrusted with limpets and barnacles - a fantastic climax to the holiday.
