Took a stroll ashore at Basseterre, St Kitts.  This is the top side of Independence square, named when the island achieved political independence on September 19, 1983. Not only the administrative, commercial and social centre of Basseterre, the square was also once the site of the slave market.

Today the locals were out enjoying a local festival, aided by the tourists flocking from the ship.
