I am taking part in Decembeard to raise money for the charity Beating Bowel Cancer. I have read that Decembeard was created off the back of Movember in 2011, when Chris Evans suggested it on Radio 2 as he had missed out on Movember. Someone at Beating Bowel Cancer picked up on the comment and, although not nearly as widely known as Movember, is now an annual fundraising event.

For the obvious reason that I have fought off bowel cancer this year, I have decided to take part to raise money for the cause and, although the target for every participant is £100, this evening I have already reached £415, which is £85 short of my personal target of £500.

The other day, I posted a self portrait, which I have used as a before shot and today is the progress three days in. Be assured that I will not be posting beard photos every day but expect a few throughout the month, and by all means drop by my fundraising page but most of all, check out the Beating Bowel Cancer website and make sure that you are aware of the symptoms as the survival rate for this disease rises from just over 50% to over 90% if it is caught early enough.
