More of a whisper than a murmur...

As the second part of his birthday celebration I took Chris out to Titchmarsh Nature Reserve, near Thrapston, where there has been a sizable murmuration of starlings over the last week or so. We arrived in good time to watch a rather beautiful sunset - and shortly afterwards the starlings started to arrive - but the biggest flocks had moved to a new roost quite some distance away. Fickle creatures! There were still some decent sized groups but they didn't spend all that long in the air before dropping down into the reeds. We may try hunting for a bigger roost this weekend...
