An impromptu concert on the road to Lwang
This morning we leave at a respectable 9am after a good night's sleep and some breakfast. We trek to Lwang with sore legs from yesterday.
On the way we meet this old guy who asks Andy to play some violin. He is a musician himself and plays the flute. In the picture you can see him, Dharma and Mon enjoying the impromptu performance.
Lwang is an incredibly picturesque village and we stay at a homestay there which has a buffalo for milk and chickens for eggs and food. With a little encouragement from Dharma, we decide to pick a chicken for dinner tonight and Freddie does the honours ... a nice plump looking ginger one. Andy isn't sure about the whole thing but we agree we'll watch as they slit its throat. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) its already done as we get back from a wander upwards to the tea gardens. The tea gardens is a high view point up hundreds of stairs and is run as a co-operative by the village. The local tea is very nice. We find out that many things in Lwang are run in a similar way, including the 9 or 10 homestays. They take it in turns to have guests so everyone gets a fair share of the business. They also split profits apparently ... how lovely.
Dinner is daal bhat with the addition of chicken curry and its very tasty ... even Andy tries some.
