1st Sunday in Advent - Norrdans

First Sunday in Advent - the shops put up their Christmas windows and show off a bit. Lots of them stay open on Sunday also, so it's a big Xmas shopping day.
The Lions have a "Santa's Grotto" and we worked there today serving ginger biscuits and mulled (alcohol free) wine to the queuing families.
Our region's dance company, Norrdans, (Northern Dance), like last year, put on a display in one of their windows. We the public stand outside in the dark and freeze, in order to see this free display of dancing in a small space. It's a slightly surreal event with cars driving by the windows, music from loudspeakers, and the sounds of hundreds of gloved and mittened hands clapping!
But it's a fun end to the day out and when it's over we head home for the warm kitchen, the first advent candle, and, this time, delicious artichoke soup.
