slow down and look up

Today marks the first day of Advent, a time of waiting expectantly for the arrival of Jesus our Savior - first as a babe in the manger, and ultimately as triumphant King of kings.
But how easy it is for me to keep my nose to the grindstone, to keep checking off my to do list, especially with the extra "to dos" that the Christmas season brings.
So this morning I got a not so subtle reminder to slow down and look up.
I was trudging through our morning walk, eyes scanning for little birds in the hedges, when Hubby spotted this Red Tailed Hawk up high.
So glad I didn't miss it.
And I don't want to miss all the good things this season has for me either.
