Cycling Saturday
I took myself by surprise this morning by feeling chirpy enough at 7am when I saw blue sky out of the bedroom window to get up and cycle to Blackford Hill for an early wander. I took along my new toy , but alas there were no amazing blips found.
Because it was such a beautiful day, we decided to cycle to Athestaneford ( pronounced 'Elsunford' by those with the knowledge) and meet up with the cycling group for lunch in the village hall. We went on our own so that we could stop at the drop of a hat and take some photographs.
The fields were all newly ploughed and a deep rich brown while the skies were huge and blue but peppered with white clouds of varying shapes. To cap it all we had a tail wind and got blown along in between stops.
The downside was of course that there was a stiff westerly breeze on the way home, but his Lordship, ever the gentleman, took the lead which allowed me to shelter behind him.
Now safely showered and sweetly smelling, I am relaxing with a glass or three of cider awaiting the start of the Calcutta Cup rugby match between the auld rivals, Scotland and England. I will probably find it too distressing to watch all the time........unless, unless the inconceivable happens and Scotland's winning. However if we're beaten again, I shall try and be magnanimous in defeat. I'm getting used to it.
I'm sure a wooden spoon would be quite useful anyway........
These two horsewomen met us on the little road near the T-junction with the Ballencrief/Haddington road
I had my digital with me as I can carry it in its little Crumpler over my shoulder when I cycle, but I can't manage the new toy in the same way.
