Patience

"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity"

Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961)

We saw two of the team of doctors looking after Dad in Colchester General this afternoon. They told us that it's now just a matter of being patient until a bed becomes available at the Royal Brompton Hospital for his minor keyhole surgery, which could happen at any time now. So we are on standby. The only concern at the moment is that Dad's feet and ankles have swollen quite a bit in the last couple of weeks, one of them more than the other. As Mum and I left at the end of our visit, Dad was waiting to have a quick scan to make sure there isn't a DVT in the leg. He has endured so much over the past few weeks with patience and dignity, and I don't think we could bear any more hold-ups in him getting the treatment he needs to remove the gunk in his lung lining and repair the tear which is leaking air through from the lung.
