Hamburg.txt Day 4

The day dawned not so clear but fresh.

We left lovely Oberzell at around 8.30am, about 20 minutes later the rain started and we were required to surmount a couple of sizeable hills. After that, however, it was pretty much down hill for the rest of the morning - in fact Biggs recorded a top speed of 47km/h at one point.

By 11ish we had reached Fulda in the rain. It seemed like quite a nice city. We found the town centre and had some much needed breakfast.

We got onto the R1 / Fulda Radweg and by later in the afternoon the sun was out and it was really lovely.

We followed the Fulda Radweg all afternoon towards our goal of Rotenburg. This, seemingly simple goal was made a little more difficult for 2 reasons - first Biggs was starting to suffer with his knees and secondly there was an apparently crucial diversion very close to Rotenburg which dragged us mercilessly through cornfields and cul de sacs (only one cul de sac, to be fair, but very annoying nonetheless).

Eventually we found the campsite, which was another boat club type place, and pitched our tent. Enjoyed a couple of beers at the place before pressing on the short-ish journey over the river to the town itself.

Rotenburg town centre was lovely - lots of slightly listing, half-timbered buildings.

We eventually settled on a Greek restaurant where we ate spaghetti, then headed back to the campsite and fell asleep.

Total for the day: 118km
Running total: 503km
