My kind of lesson

It's educational, honest. Look he's even taking notes.

The inaugural Winchester Wine Festival. Two great classes (this one on, you guessed it, wine and cheese pairings and another on the importance of the shape of the glass for each wine) and an introduction to local producers and importers. I suspect it may end up costing us rather more than the entry and class fees. I know I might be open to the power of suggestion but the glass shape really did make a huge difference. AND we found loads of cracking wine merchants including the people who supplied the wine for our wedding.

Other things we learnt. I can taste bitter, K can't. This explains so much. Also my smell recognition needs a little work, or more accurately putting the right name to the smell I recognised. What was interesting was that my initial reaction to mushroom was, I'm told, to recoil in horror and yet I didn't recognise it on further smelling. Odd, because real mushrooms I do recognise the smell of OK this is only interesting if you know that mushrooms have the tendency to make me violently ill but no-one reads this anyway.

It may have been a mistake to move on to the pub afterwards. I'm told we were back in time for England v Samoa but I think we both slept through that.

Vx

So what did we buy on the day? Gin, obviously.
