Luke and Lucy

Fantastic evening in Yuangsho, which involved a nice western style meal followed by drinks in Lucy's place. This is where Luke spent his evenings when he was doing his TEFL course 5 years ago. We have visited every time we have been to China and later in the evening, Lucy joined us for a drink. We had avery interesting chat and it was a revelation to hear about some of gbe challenges she faces. She has owned her business for 8 years and has 5 years to run on the lease but her rent has already doubled making it difficult to make ends meet.she has recently opened a hotel and cannot find reliable staff.she tells us that the first generation of cnildren from the time the 1 child policy was introduced are now the majority of the workforce and they have a very poor work ethic having been spoiled by their parents and never having been given a senes of responsibility, accountability or pride in their work. Not what I expected to hear.
