Hiding
Yesterday (I'm back-blipping) was glorious so on the spur of the moment I decided that Ted and I would have a day out. I settled quickly on Kingston Lacy, a local-ish National Trust property, about 30 mins drive from home. We got there at 10:30am as it opened, and headed straight for the Kitchen Garden which includes a wonderful allotment, some gorgeous kune kune pigs and a fabulous area which is full of ride-on tractors for children. Of course we spent the next 1.5 hours here, with Ted in seventh heaven! I was expecting a tantrum when we left but he surprised me in coming away with no fuss, and we headed for the cafe in the stable block. We shared a nice jacket potato, follower by a sinful piece of chocolate cake for lunch, then went for another run around the gardens in the now-fading sun. I suppose I should have called it a day then, Ted was clearly getting tired, and in that way that toddlers do, he was getting more and more hyperactive the more exhausted he got. The need to change his nappy provoked a screaming fit which meant I had to pin him down on the change table to get the job done... Heading back to the car he ran into this great little hut built from sticks... and refused to come out! I got a few nice shots but then had to dive in myself to catch him and carry him shrieking back to the car. We had had such a fun day it was sad to end on a low note - but the did crash out within about 3 minutes of me setting off on the drive home, and I enjoyed a relaxing journey back listening to the Food Programme on Radio 4, which kept me so interested that I missed my turning and ended up taking a very wiggly route back home!
