Baby Weka

I would love to say that I took this photo, but no, I cheated. Son C took it today, and because it is so cute, I just had to steal the photo for my blip today.

Today C went up to the back of our farm and up the hill. He came across this wee chick and it's mum. Mum had just killed a rat, and was getting stuck into it, supposedly for tea for herself and her young. Wildlife at its very best.

It's still cold here, with heavy showers and thunderstorms today. Certainly not what we expect at this time of the year. We are waiting for the weather to improve, so we can get our silage in the pit. Until then, we are waiting, and watching the weather forecast. There's not much more we can do.
