A Friendly Face!
A long journey home but with the bonus of having time in Edinburgh to have a bite of lunch, and a catch up of news, with the lovely, smiling and cheery Lady Findhorn! She should be a tonic available on the NHS!
Got to the Aberdeen ferry at 4pm only to be told that because of the weather it wouldn't be sailing until 5.30pm. The kind staff at check in also advised me that it would be a rough crossing and I could postpone or cancel if I would rather not travel! Tempting, but no, I wanted to get home asap!
As predicted it was a very hairy trip, lots of crashing of crockery and sliding about of anything not secured! The boat pitched and tossed, it seemed to rear up, hang in the air and then come crashing down with a wallop, however I lay down and managed to sleep through most of it - after the emotions of the last few days I could have slept on a bed of nails!
We were supposed to dock at Kirkwall at 11pm but in the end it was 1.45am before I eventually walked down the gang plank! Never been so happy to see Mike and Ollie waiting for me! Eighteen hours door to door - never mind, I got a lot of knitting done and met up with Lady F!
