From the dark corner.....

To smile while tears are falling....

Two questions often spring to my mind.

1. Where does the time go? - always on a Sunday when the weekend has whooshed by so quickly.
2. Why are joy and sorrow such close companions? - Yin and Yang, pleasure and pain, birth and death are always two sides of the same coin.

The only thing that baffles me about a squirrel baffle is why I bought one. It was funny to watch the little rascal standing back with hands on hips - yes really! - before jumping on the gargoyle, leaping on top of the shiny dome, stabilising himself and then stepping his way up the feeder dishes until he reached the sunflower seeds.

He gave me a cheeky victorious look before tucking in. I clambered on a stool and climbed into the kitchen sink bumping my head on the low ceiling, opened the little window and poked my super soaker out of it and pressed the trigger. Shame there was no water in it.. I'm sure Xena Warrior Princess didn't have this trouble. The noise of the window and my profanities made my squirrel pal decide to scarper anyway. What a waste of time and effort!

Half an hour later, I was getting ready to go out to meet John and Jennie for Sunday dinner and glanced out the kitchen window to see a nearly dead rat on the patio! A black cat nudged him with his nose. The rat lifted his head briefly and the cat screamed before disappearing over next door's fence. I watched, fascinated, as Roland Rat staggered under the shed to safety. I realise I should have gone out to finish him off but murder before dinner is not good.

I'll have a poke with a stick tomorrow.

Dinner at the Plough Inn at Shustoke was marvellous! I had the pensioner's lamb dinner, John had pork and Jennie had turkey. Cringe! I was the only pensioner dinner person. I used to have the kiddie's dinner at the Dog and Doublet and now at the Plough I have the pensioner dinner.

You could say I have aged forty years between two pubs! The service wasn't that slow, I assure you..

I did have a childish pudding though - strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream scoops covered in cream and hundreds and thousands. Yum!

This starling having his Sunday dinner before I went out was virtually all I saw today.

Go large....

There endeth another weekend.
