Poppy Wave at the Tower
A dull, overcast day with rain showers.
Further to yesterday's Journal entry, we thoroughly enjoyed the Federer v Wawrinka Semi Final match. It was hugely exciting and turned out to be the best match of the tournament. We were very fortunate to have been there to see it, especially since Federer picked up an injury and had to pull out of the Final, to the huge disappointment of those who had bought tickets.
In the late morning we travelled up to the Tower to see the Memorial Poppy display. Although they were dismantling some of it, the crowds were huge and it was an extremely moving experience. There was a respectful silence among the crowd, as we contemplated the sheer numbers of poppies, representing all the British and Commonwealth deaths during WW1.
Afterwards we wandered along past the Shard, Tower Bridge and
St. Katherine's Dock where the Gloriana barged is moored.
Finally we made our way home, with a much smoother flight and a lovely sunset. I was glad that I was well enough to have made the trip, although I will need to have a serious conversation with my Cardiac Consultant about maybe having a new Pacemaker fitted sooner, rather than later.
If you would like to see some more photos of the Poppies and of the other London views, please have a look at my Flikr Album.
I hope to get back to commenting soon.
