Swallow Falls - Betws y Coed
We are home. At least the rain is at lower altitude here ...
We did have one more day in North Wales. We spent it exploring Betws y Coed. We have only really seen it in the dark since we have been here, as we have been out all day when it has been light.
We walked up the hill to Swallow Falls. We got caught in two showers on the way up and the way back. But it was worth it. The scenery was fantastic, and the bird life wasn't bad either.
I had a play with long exposures on the waterfall. This isn't too bad, considering I had no tripod, nor a filter to make the longer exposures darker. There was a lot of balancing the camera on a nice rock, and hoping.
The woods were dripping with birds, Coal Tits, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Nuthatches, Robins, Chaffinches by the bucket load abounded. It was a nice way to end that element of the holiday off.
We walked back into town for a coffee and a piece of cake in the pizza place we ended up in last night. The people here are so friendly, and we were welcomed back with open arms, which was in contrast to the Pont Y Pair pub, which couldn't remember us two nights running despite being the only people left in there on one occasion. Just as well the excellent music and food made up for that.
Our Guest House has been awesome. It was like being at home with mam and dad for a few days. Jean (our landlady) opened the door for us every evening when we got back and asked how our day had been. The cooked breakfasts Graham cooked up will live long on the waistline!
This has been one of the best holiday's me and Dawn have had since we have been together. It was really an "us" kind of holiday.
The journey back wasn't too bad, we were kept company by Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds ...
Back to reality tomorrow. But I'm kinda ready for it!
