Wheeling into Edinburgh's Christmas 2014

I am not sure exactly when the big Christmas extravaganza actually opens but every time I go into town by bus more and more of the set has been assembled.

Here the spokes of the Big Wheel are taking shape behind one of the trees that borders Princes Street in the shadow of The Scott Monument. No doubt the cabins will be fixed next time I am in town on Monday.

For reasons known only to the Edinburgh Tram operators all the trams were caught up in a power outage this afternoon and all were stranded with their "pantographs" down at intervals along the route. It reminded me of F's train track when the battery has run out of juice!

No one seemed too bothered as Edinburgh has a brilliant, brilliant bus system and that was working like clockwork.

(I hope it is fixed before tomorrow's rugby match at Murrayfield between Scotland and New Zealand!)

Do you know anyone who regular uses the tram? It seems to me that the system is literally running on empty when it is able to run at all, now that the initial novelty of riding on it has worn off!
