Rothesay Castle

I had not been inside the Castle since my schooldays . So it was a pleasant surprise to find new parts had been opened and more information including a short film. The stair in this photo is The Bloody Stair where a young woman either threw herself or stabbed herself and fell down the stair rather than marry . Her ghost is said to haunt the Castle.
At one time it had red paint daubed on the stairs and I remember one teacher telling us it was ok to call it The Bloody Stair as it really had blood so was not swearing. A fact which we school kids thought was great fun!
Much of the castle dates from the 12th Century as did yesterday's blip of St Blane's Chapel.
