Landlocked
The gate here used to be the main entrance through which everything had to pass to enter the port of Garachico. This was the largest port in Tenerife and of major importance as it lay on the trading routes between Europe and Africa and S America. But then in 1706 a volcanic eruption caused lava to cover part of the town and completely block the harbour. Now it is about half a kilometre from the sea and no longer a port.
Today's walk was slightly curtailed due to the rain and thick fog so preventing us from seeing the mountains which we climbed and the extensive sea views west towards the islands of Gomera and La Palma.
I am sorry not to have commented on any of your blips but am having difficulty with wifi. (In answer to Joppastrand the time here is the same as in UK)
