Poring
It was very wet when we met up for today's Longshaw Fungus Survey, but we were not long in the field before the rain eased and the sun came out. the rest of the day alternated between sunshine and showers. although many of the fungi were a little soggy, we did make some good finds, including a rare small brown mushroom which smells of mothballs. People didn't seem as enthusiastic about yesterday's Jelly Babies as I was, and our rarity was not very photogenic, so I went for this Fringed Polypore Polyporus ciliatus today. I was pleased with the sharpness of the pores, which can be best viewed large.
