Nothing is worth more

Well, interesting day today the other side of the country, in Glasgow at a Ladies Lunch to fund raise for ENABLE (which works with and for people with learning disabilities in Scotland).

As part of the lunch, a programme of entertainment was laid on and this young woman's mum and aunt were at our table...this is Julie who in between doing private work as a languages teacher and translator specialises in aerial acrobatics. She was terrific, especially in this setting, the Oran Mor in Gt Western Road. Once a church, now a place of entertainment, the murals were done by Alisdair Gray, the writer, poet and artist. Goodness knows what Calvin, Knox, Luther and Chalmers, whose stone faces looked down on us as we were enjoying our champagne (and on a Sunday) would have to say about it all!

It was good to catch up with some Glasgow friends, and to be able to snatch a quick hour with my niece, busy cramming for her exams later this week. Unfortunately, I just missed the last underground back from Byres Road to Queen St (closes at six minutes to six on a Sunday - there is probably some kind of connection there with Calvin and clan) so it was a slowish journey home but all very well worth it.
