It's a baldy bald life!

Lack of MAMILS but One Fine Bird!

Rosemary gets a 2nd Blip in a row! This is quite an unusual occurrence but it’s kinda reflective of our sunny smiley day!

It was the 2nd early start of the weekend, yesterday because I was doing Park Run and today we had an MTB ride. The route would take us through Charlesworth, along Torside to the Woodhead tunnel, across to the Holme Valley and over Holme Moss.

I was quite well behaved....I typically have some type of strop when heading out on the MTB but it didn't really happen today. Maybe because it was a very well planned non-technical route which was 95% ridable by me. It was fun going over Holme Moss with all the names still on the road from the Tour de France. Rosemary was coiled like a spring, ready to ‘chic’ any unsuspecting egotistical MAMIL (middle-aged man in lycra)....but alas.... no one went past us.

I started the descent a few seconds before R and she said “I’ll catch you up”......”like hell you will” I thought and then threw myself down the mountain as fast as I could, rarely touching the brakes. Wow....dunno what happened there as I’m typically a big Jessie!

It was cool coming through Dinting as we both saw a flash of turquoise....it was a kingfisher! What a beautiful bird! We were both ravenous when we got back to mine, having not eaten nearly enough for a 5 hour ride. After a few hours of chilling, R had to head back to Edinburgh and I went for a swim, feeling I hadn't quite done enough for the day!
