Diary of an Edinburgher

Blackford Hill at last

Archie and I went up Blackford Hill this morning - he hasn’t had a proper run out for days - he definitely doesn’t count round the block strolls as walkies. It wasn’t windy, thank goodness, but I was muffled up with scarves and hats (well, one hat). This cold/cough is hanging on...

He had a good run around and we met TWO other schnauzers. He wasn’t sick in the car, but when we get there he always goes absolutely crazy, crying to get out.

When we came back he had a shower and hair dry, and was skipping around happily till I put his new jumper on. Then he stood stock still. I nearly did another blip of him looking miserable. He’s even more miserable because I have him with me in the computer room while I play some of my kids’ songs - including extremely irritating ones like The Muppets- Mah Na Mah Na and the Teletubbies - Eh-Oh. Why I had them I do not know - they have never knowingly been played. I should really put links in to them to remind you how extremely annoying they are. I think the misery of the jumper cancels out the pain of the annoying voices. Not sure if this plan is working - I’ve had to revert to Leonard Cohen before I go mad. Some might say that’s just as bad…

I did a bit of sawing to stock up on my firewood of a sensible size. I think the fire will go on this afternoon and a film will be watched or dozed through.

At least we (Scotland) got a few tries yesterday...
