Sun effect

I noticed the sun highlighting the flaps of the paper bark maple tree (Acer griseum) this afternoon. This is one of my favorite of our trees. We've had it a few years and it is doing very well. The leaves are attractive in the fall and I really like the feature of the bark.

We had a fairly mild day today, but I got caught up in "inside" work and only got outside long enough for a walk with Riley. I had piles of recipts and papers waiting to be sorted and filed and once I got started on that, I had to keep going.

Later this evening we went to a benefit dinner for a local man at a nearby church - ham, potatoes, cabbage, and lots of homemade desserts. Yum.
