Don't Touch My Sticks

Today has been one of those rudderless days spent tacking into the wind and getting nowhere.

It is always a pleasure taking Ozzie for his morning walk, although we missed Dana and Rudy this morning. We took him to the swimming hole this morning where he trolled for sticks because the one he carried with him turned out to be waterlogged and sank to the bottom almost immediately.

A woman came by with nine dogs, all on leashes, but their presence made Ozzie quite nervous about his sticks. He's a very non-confrontational fellow, so if another dog tries to take his stick, he lets them have it. I think Ozzie is lacking a certain synapse…the "if…., then…." one. For example, if OilMan throws the stick, then he can run into the water to fetch the stick and bring it back. Perhaps he doesn't see the point….

I went to Target in search of an item they were supposed to have but didn't, spent half an hour trying to get out of the parking lot the size of a small city, and fled back home again. Note to self: NEVER go to Target….

I went up to sketch the two red barns and wound up leaning against a telephone pole since there was nowhere to sit. Maybe I'll get to the paints tomorrow….

I spent a pleasant half hour on the phone with one of my closest Berkeley friends trying to figure out why I never got the emails that said our book group meeting is tonight. Needless to say, despite the fact that I chose the book, I won't be going tonight to lead the discussion….
