Finola and Robert's wedding

We were invited to a wonderful wedding yesterday.

Robert and Finola were married at Lis Ard House with a Humanist service in a ring fort surrounded by candle lanterns on the ground and in the trees. The service was perfect - the absence of religion was a breath of fresh air and, for me at least, nothing was lost and everything was gained. It was meaningful, moving, relevant and fun too.

After the service more fun was had - as you can see here in the Irish Sky Garden which is a masterpiece of landscape art by James Turrell. Robert and Finola are lying on the plinth in the centre of the elliptical bank, open to the sky, which is approached through a tunnel and up steep stone steps. It is a very intense experience.

This was definitely the best wedding I have ever been invited to!
