The Duke of Portlands Boathouse Ullswater
When we got up this morning it was a lovely misty morning so we decided after a quick breakfast to go down the lake looking for shots. I asked CC where she wanted to start and we took the route that suited this best.
As we drew near the lake she suggested we might try some shots of the boat house before moving on. What a good idea! Such a good idea that there were 5 tripods lined up on the narrow strip of grass between the road and the wall beside the lake. The water was so high that it was about 18 inches up the wall so nowhere else to stand.
The Duke of Portland's Boathouse is now a holiday let it sleeps 2 in one bedroom and it can be yours from £195 per night! Originally the boathouse belonged to the 3rd Duke of Portland in the 18th Century. If you should be considering staying there you need to know the bath (modern) is wooden and rectangular.
Of the shots I took this one appealed as it shows the mist on the lake but also the touch of brightness which was beginning to show.
For lunch we went up to Carlisle had a meal and dropped of some equipment left from my hip replacement at a disability charity. Then as always a visit to the garden centre. By the time we were ready to come home it was pouring down. By the time CC went hospital visiting we were worried about the garden flooding. Fortunately it has stopped now.
