Make A Wish

My kids and I went on a wonderful little walk / bike ride around our neighborhood this afternoon. The weather was beautiful and the sun was shining bright. The 'skip in my step' was back today.....as I knew that it would be. A fresh day almost always brings fresh feelings of positive energy and a carefree attitude. It felt nice to stroll around our large and winding neighborhood today. Listening to the birds sing, watching all of the new flowers reach towards the sun.....nice, very very nice.

My son is a little racer on his bike. He gets pedaling so fast with those little training wheels of his and "wooo-hooo's" the entire time. I am so thankful that we have safe and wide open roads for the kids to ride on. He always has to circle back to join us as his little sister rides slowly on a push tricycle. It's also a good opportunity to talk about safety and rules as the occasional car does drive by.

We found this little "wish" flower towards the end of our stroll. The sun was beginning to set and was projecting slivers of harsh light as it began to hide behind the clouds. I held this little wish maker up to the light and was immediately captivated by the way it lit up each and every delicate detail. I became nostalgic as I remembered how excited my sister and I would get when we found these and how we would made a wish and then blow the little cotton-like pedals into the wind.

Me: "Hey buddy, make a wish."

My son: "I would wish that Fire Trucks can fly."

And then he blew with all of his might.....and then my daughter blew with all of her might......and then I blew with all of my might.......and all of the delicate little pedals from our magical wish maker danced away into the late afternoon sky.
