Aegina
Much more organised today - we were up and breakfasted nice and early (thus also missing the annoying, juicer-hogging school party that we're apparently sharing our hotel with), super-efficient at finding and operating the metro and surprisingly skilled at scoring ferry tickets and finding the boat to Aegina. Unfortunately the weather was beyond our control: it rained on and off for much of the day and reminded the whole party somewhat of other Half-Term holidays in Whitby and similar places. That said, we had a really good day, with Beck and I waxing nostalgic about Island-hopping holidays in the nineties and the kids less than convinced about sleeping on deck, camping and the purchasing of unlicensed alcohol from Greek villagers off the backs of donkeys. There were really good ruins of ancient coastal fortifications, a bit of paddling between showers and plenty of decent places along the harbour to sit and shelter over coffee. The ferry over was properly old-school and the high-speed return by Aegean Flying Dolphin was almost as cool as the name suggests!
