The tunnel that never was
In 1923 this tunnel was constructed as part of the railway drive to the West of South Island. Despite construction work continuing for another seven years the line was never laid and a great development opportunity lost to the West Coast communities. Today it's just a tourist walk, but who owns the abandoned stiletto and what's the story surrounding its being here?
