According to....

...Chris Packham on Autumnwatch last night, Ivy is a much misunderstood plant, with people claiming that it strangles trees and pulls down houses. At this time of year Ivy is a vital source of nectar, particularly for over-wintering insects like Queen Wasps, Hoverflies and Red Admirals.

Just a short trip into Bath today to deliver a birthday present to a friend. But what a difference a day makes! Yesterday I was basking in 20c sunshine, today I was waiting for the bus, shivering in 10c!! To try and keep myself warm, I was hopping about taking photos, including this shot of the Ivy that was growing up the fence next to the bus stop.

So the next time you're tempted to pull up that pesky Ivy, just remember what Chris Packham said!
