The Boat

This is our small Grumman Fish and Fun boat. It has come to mean a lot to me over the course of my life. We have taken it to Canada every year that I have been alive, except for the first one or two. My first years I do not remember, but my family had to cram into a small rented boat. Then my dad bought this boat. It wasn’t much when he first got it, rotted away with holes in the carpet, but he made it into what we have today. I can remember playing with my toy boats in the live well, whether there was fish inside or not. I would play with my trucks in the front, and under the overhang was the garage. When I got a little older, my parents bought me a remote controlled boat. We would put the thing in the water and as our boat trolled along, I would drive my little one right beside it. When I got a little older than that, my dad taught me how to string a line and bait a hook. It wasn’t long after that when I caught my first fish, off of this boat.
