Mobile Surgical Service Unit

Did some homework on this unit I saw today and was pleasantly surprised with what I had found out.

This surgical unit travels throughout New Zealand offering elective surgery to folk in rural communities that no longer have surgical services available.

Surgery includes the following : General, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic, Dental, Plastic, Endoscopy, and Urology to name a few of the 300 procedures offered.

Once parked and self stabilised the unit expands outwards and doubles in width to provide an admin room, scrub room, waiting room, theatre, recovery room, and two utility rooms. Power is sourced from a nearby building although also available is a pto generator incase of emergency loss of power mid surgery.

Since it's introduction in 2002 the unit has completed 15,000 elective day operations within the 23 rural locations in New Zealand.
