Seeing the Light

I thought my problem sleeping was the time difference between here and the US, but then I realised that there was a bright white light in my bedroom. It seems whilst I was away the council installed LED street lamps - great for cost-saving and the environment, but very very bad if they shine directly into your bedroom window. Gone is the delicate amber glow that would have left this panel in my front door black, yet still have lit the road and pavement perfectly adequately - and hello to this UFO-style blue light that makes me feel I'm being interrogated.

The picture makes it look pleasingly amber, when in fact it is very blue-white.
