Old Faithful (California)

We left Guerneville and headed inland to Calistoga - Mrs BH wanted to see the spouting geyser Old Faithful. Always happy to oblige her, off we went, and had a lovely hour or so watching it spew hot water into the air every 8-10 minutes. It was very zen indeed.

Then we pottered into Calistoga itself and bought ourselves a picnic lunch, which we ate in the car park of the Sequoia grove vineyard (we're all class, as you know!), chosen for our Napa Valley tasting because of the name and the fact that we like sequoias!

The tasting was lovely - so lovely that we bought a bottle of Glorious Gewurz. Then we carried on south through the Napa Valley and round the northern bay shore to see the Golden Gate Bridge (!) and drive into San Francisco. Roadworks meant that we nearly went back over the bridge and then back again, but luckily a nifty detour was spotted and we eventually found ourselves on the right road, and arrived at our AirBnB lodgings.

Unloaded ourselves, got our bearings and then went out to find some food, as recommended by our lovely host, and then back to the house for a glass of wine overlooking the city. Busy but lovely day.
