A most interesting...

Somerset WI Annual meeting today, where Michael Portillo was the guest speaker. His talk was witty, erudite, polished and very amusing. He spoke of his family background, working with Mrs Thatcher, his life as an MP and, of course, making his Great Railway Journey programmes for the BBC.
And guess what? He arrived at Yeovil Junction Station this morning and was duly met by one of the conference organisers.
It was a most enjoyable day, with the business of the meeting quickly dealt with, presentation of trophies, cups and awards and other talks on topical matters. Our WI received a certificate as it will be 90 years since it first began in our village!
