Nervous smiles

Today has pretty much been building up to the late afternoon's dress rehearsal for her first ballet competition. She had a practice at home this morning. She had her usual class. She had another practice and then chilled out while I finished sewing the ribbons on her beautiful deep pink satin shoes.

We headed out just before 4 to ballet. She was quite stunned by the room full of beautiful costumes and big girl ballerinas. She's the youngest from her school entering. She looked utterly adorable and very pleased with herself. The nerves got her a little but when she went and did her dance, oh my word was she incredibly proud of herself. She did it beautifully, she didn't stop grinning afterwards. So pleased for her. She just loved it!

I had said she could choose tea if she did her solo at the dress rehearsal. She wanted fish and chips. She fell asleep before we even got back to our town! She is asleep with her ballet plaits still in.
