Viewing Motherless.
Another tour in Kelvingrove this afternoon. This lady was viewing Motherlerss, a piece of sculpture by George Lawson done around 1889. (Unfortunately she moved so there's a bit of blur!) Paintings and sculpture which told a story were very popular in Victorian times. One can only speculate how this little girl's mother met her end. Perhaps a tragic accident or one of the epidemics that swept Victorian Britain.
